VISA MATTERS
Most foreign nationalities are granted a 90-day tourist visa, which may be renewed for an additional 90 days to make a total of 180 days in any 12-month period.
Certain nationals may have to leave Brazil to obtain this renewal, but the vast majority do not.
For most people this is sufficient for their needs, but if you think you may like to stay for longer, or potentially even live here at some time in the future, then it is important to research before making any investment.
Visa categories include business investment, family reunion, marriage, retirement, and many others.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
From 1st October 2023 citizens of the USA, Canada, Australia and Japan must apply for a tourist visa BEFORE travelling to Brazil. This is beacuse the visa waiver program offered to these countries by Brazil, was not offered in return to Brazilians.
